Former St James’ Church
Description of chosen placeThis is the former St James' Church on the corner of the Cliftonville and Antrim Roads in North Belfast. It has been closed for many years and despite its prominence, certainly feels forgotten. Yet as it waits patiently to be loved again, it retains an air of dignity. I especially love its triangular green space, lined with beautiful old trees.
What do you imagine the space could be?It takes some imagination to think how such a fine building could be used. How about a spectacular swimming pool and wellbeing centre, shared between the community and school next door? The green space is much easier to imagine as a beautiful little park with benches and meadow flowers.
