Union Street Community Park
Description of chosen placeMost recently this space was a car park, but has been sitting idle for several years, probably awaiting development. It is a large open space on three roads: Carrick Hill, Donegal St and Little Donegal St. Located in Smithfield and Union, it is close to Cathedral Quarter, University of Ulster, Carrick Hill.
What do you imagine the space could be?I imagine this large, city centre space serving local residents, students, workers and visitors in the area through the creation of an urban multi purpose park, to include a community garden with raised beds, covered seating, a walking track on the perimeter, outdoor exercise/sports areas and gym, and an area for events (arts events, performances, classes, food festivals, stalls etc.).
